Sandman

I lie awake at night
Punching walls with all my might
Thinking of you ‘til the sandman comes
As my heart beat like the pounding of drums

Rage engulfs my chest
All the hate and anger I can’t digest
And memories flood the corners of my mind
Which leaves me in this Earthly bind

Oh, sandman set me free
Take me away from agony
Let us fly to Neverland!
Or set sail for Treasure Island.

Take me, take me away.
Even to Wonderland, if I may say.
To Brokeback mountain,
Where cowboys go gay
Or Dantes’ Inferno
On second thought,
On that I’d say nay.
Oh sweet, sweet dreams
Where nothing is as it seems
Like magic from inside your head.

From the comfort of your bed.
